Kahla porcelain factory

After the decision of the Saxon parliament to close down the more and more unprofitable ore mines in the Freiberg region within a time span of 10 years between 1903 and 1913 the Saxon government launched a financial program to support the conversion process of the mining industry into new following up industries. One of the supported projects was the establishment of a factory for the production of technical ceramics for the electrical industry by the porcelain factory Kahla AG in Freiberg in 1905.

The 1913/14 built director’s villa and the 1922/23 built administration and electrical laboratory building of the factory are monuments representing one of the important following up industries of mining in the Ore Mountains as well as an outstanding testimony to the industrial architecture of the time.
